Up-Close with Chin Teik: Re-Think
Hack Your Brain with 3 Words: #Pause. #Language. #Re-Think

These 3 words will allow for brain health, improved control of emotions, increased productivity from solving complex problems.

#Pause, when intentional, allows for choice in response to situations, switching from fast and shallow thinking to deep and slow thinking.
Your brain needs a break. The prefrontal cortex, which is the executive brain, is easily fatigued. It requires lots of energy to think deep and slow - system 2 thinking. System 1 thinking is shallow and fast which reinforces your unconscious biases and assumptions.

#Language. Words matter. We think, we are. They can lift self and others or bring down self or others. Our brains often tell lies to protect us from real or imagined threats. Thus often leaving you stuck and frozen in the past. Be conscious, choose wisely. Reframing is a way to mitigate negative thoughts by replacing them with positive thoughts.

#Re-Think for insights. Impossible becomes possible via insights!  Reframe to replace negative thoughts with positive ones.
Our paradigms are shaped by 4E - environment, education, experience and exposure
SEEDS represent the 150 unconscious biases we have from our 4E. Similarity, expedience, experience, distance and safety biases often block us from growth, open, outward and promotion mindsets!

Thank you for pausing from your busyness to listen to my language, which I hope will allow you to re-think!

Peace and Love

Hack Your Brain with 3 Words: Pause. Language. Re-Think

#Pause, when intentional, allows for choice in response to situations, switching from fast and shallow thinking to deep and slow thinking.

#Language. Words matter. They can lift self and others or bring down self or others. Be conscious, choose wisely.

#Re-Think. Impossible becomes possible via insights!  Reframe to replace negative thoughts with positive ones.

Hi, my name is Chin Teik.

These 3 words represent the work I do as a neuroleadership senior executive coach and an action-learning facilitator. The 3 words are part of the neuroscience learning pathway to gain insights, which will lead to actions and change.

Let me unpack each of them.

#Pause.

Your brain needs a break. The prefrontal cortex, which is the executive brain is easily fatigued. It requires lots of energy to think deep and slow. The default mode when running back to back meetings relies on intuition, leading to thinking fast and shallow - known as System 1. This thinking reinforces your unconscious biases and assumptions.

3 Actions:

1. Schedule intentional Pause between meetings to be mentally prepared.

2. Schedule walks, workouts, rest and sleep for a healthy brain. This allows for insights.

3. Schedule time to think deeply and slow for complex problem solving

#Language. Words matter. We think we are. 90% of our 120,000 to 160,000 thoughts are negative. Our brains often tell lies to protect us from real or imagined threats. Thus often leaving you stuck and frozen in the past.

Reframing is a way to mitigate the negative thoughts by replacing with positive thoughts.

#Re-Think.

Our paradigms are shaped by 4E - environment, education, experience and exposure

SEEDS represent the 150 unconscious biases we have from our 4E. Similarity, expedience, experience, distance and safety biases often blocks us from growth, open, outward and promotion mindsets!

  • Insights allow us to re-think our current mental framework
  • Insights can only come when our brains are not busy, when we are feeling good and not thinking directly of the problem.

Thank you for pausing from your busyness to listen to my language, which I hope will allow you to re-think!

Be well
